Doubleplusgood by Utopium
Produced by Dean & Jay
Utopium are an excellent Parisian band who write and record music in the shoegaze / post-rock / neo-British tradition. They all live in Paris, but only one member hails from there originally — the others being Russian, Mexican and Spanish. Doubleplusgood is one of their heavier moments and is also the title track for their second album, recorded entirely here at Chemical under our direction. We spent about 20 days making this record and it is chalk-full of studio pallet. We love this track because it makes an excellent example of the EMT 140 plate reverb. Listen as the drum outro fades from close and room mics to pure EMT reverb.
BTW, because of the length of this track, we had to use a low sample rate (128Kbps). The CD sounds much better than this mp3.
