I Need A Life by Born Ruffians

We are super-happy to have been a part of the Born Ruffians first full length; Red, Yellow, & Blue. This record was recorded almost entirely live. Many of the final versions to make the record are actually first takes!  The drum, bass, guitar and even some vocals were all recorded off-the-floor. Once we had carefully decided on the placement of each of the microphones, we hit record and let the band do their thing. The shimmery guitar sound was made by using 2 amps, spread apart in our live-room, and leaking into the drum mics. Luke’s singing performance is a large part of the Ruffians sound, and I Need A Life is no exception. Both Dean and Jay agree that the way Luke’s vocals break-up in the climax of this song is perfect.
